How To Avoid a 2020 Business Meltdown and Achieve Success.

//How To Avoid a 2020 Business Meltdown and Achieve Success.
As I sit in my local coffee shop and reflect on the year ahead of me. I’ve long come to realise even with experience and success in business…
…you can still feel, overwhelm, self-doubt, frustration and lack of clarity.
(Even when you know what must be done)
.
> Important:
First, we’re all at different levels of dealing with our ego.
The part of the mind that both protects us.
And mediates between the conscious (5% of the mind) and unconscious (95% of the mind)…
.
So as I think a little more than just myself, it became so obvious that many others are actually in a similar position.
.
And, if you’re anything like me, until my awareness kicks in by my own senses or someone pointing something out to me.
.
– life can often feel like…
“maybe there’s something missing” or “something I can’t quite put my finger on”
.
So with the time of year and the tradition of the impending new year.
.
HOW WILL YOU ENSURE YOUR BUSINESS SUCCEEDS IN 2020?
.
Here are my “18 essential steps”.
.

1 – Your VISION:

If you’re going for something (a goal/dream/purpose/a why) that doesn’t feel right both from a gut feel, to what you know will at least have some meaning for you or positive effect.
.
It’s probably because of the disconnect to something that’s bigger than who you are right now.
.
Regularly using tools like meditation will allow you to at least find daily moments of clarity, allowing you to connect spiritually with your soul, chi or the universe.
And tap into what you really want, or what you’re called to pursue.
.
It will also, help to mute out the noise of your ego, society and your own misplaced guilt or low self-worth.
.
It’s essential to raise your awareness on your own unconscious misbehaviours.
So that you connect with what’s possible for you.
(Your potential)
.
But not from your ego, from your higher.
Knowing and being able to shift from survival to creativity is critical and most of us are blind to it.
.
So if you only ever think you’re only part of a physical world.
And that “you have to face up to facts in this REAL world”, just know this FACT:
.
Science shows that we’re physical bodies > made up of systems > like the nervous system > which is made up of cells > which are made up of atoms > and atoms are made up of:
~ 99.9999999999% energy
~ 0.000000000001% mass
.
Showing you how much you’re just about nothing materially.
And that you need to tap into your energy (soul, chi, universe) rather than what your basic senses tell you.
.
.

2 – WHO YOU MUST BECOME (Alter-Ego):

Often we set goals and a lot of the time with SMART, precise clarity, down to the penny or millimetre, and usually everything that’s external to us.
.
But in setting new goals, WHO MUST YOU BECOME?
.
The same level of thinking, being and personality of who got you here, won’t get you to the next level.
.
You must EVOLVE.
You can NOT be the same you.
.
A lot of top performers, entrepreneurs and stars use the concept of the alter-ego so they embody a new persona that they grow into over the course of their journey.
~ Beyonce Knowles = Sasha Fierce
~ Kobe Bryant = The Black Mamba
~ Martin Luther King Jr. = the Distinguished Self
~ Margeret Thatcher = The Iron lady
~ Muhammed Ali = The Greatest
~ Bruce Wayne = Batman
.
Choose 3-5 people you admire and pick the personality attitude, attributes, or traits that you like about them that you can adopt and use going forward.
Then from this point forward embody those traits.
Eventually, your alter ego will merge with your true persona and you will be the person you want to be.

3 – PLAN OF ACTION

Planning according to your vision is key.
This is about knowing your end result, but not necessarily “how it will happen”.
.
Making a plan will at least keep your focus on track.
.
Work from a 12-month plan.
Include, Life, Family, Social Time, Time Alone, Holidays, Work.
You need to see the whole picture of your life.
.
Chunk it down to 4 quarters, then split those quarters into months and break those it 4 weeks and for each day what three actions can you do that will bring you closer to the end result you’re going for.
.
If you put more in, you’ll hit overwhelm, or your tasks are not priority focused.
.
.

4 – ENVIRONMENT

Your environment will either help you or hold you back.
This is both internal and external.
.
Internal will all revolve around what you take in, self-talk and your mindset around when you find success and when you encounter problems.
(This will be the point when you fully embody your alter-ego)
.
External will be regularly taking yourself out of poor surroundings or planning time in places that energise you.
.
Spend less time with toxic people.
Those who always tell you to not aim so high, those who impose their own limitations or offer unsolicited advice with no experience with what you do, or those who bitch and moan about life and never really do anything about changing theirs.
.
– These are who you should be wary of, and unfortunately, they can be family, friends or even employees.
.
Choose to be around positive people who lift you up and think like you do.
Create new social circles or people with a growth mindset, who demonstrate grit, determination, love, empathy and integrity.
.
.

5 – DISTRACTIONS

Learning to say no to new opportunities or moving past the feeling that you’ll miss out (FOMO) on a new opportunity if you don’t pursue it “Now”, will help to free you from distractions and those “really great ideas”.
.
The more you focus and commit to your own vision and goals the further you’ll progress.
A simple formula to use in deciding if the new idea or opportunity is worth pursuing.
1 – Does it take you closer to your vision?
2 – Does it require more of your time, to the point where it will impede on your original plan?
If you answered ‘yes’ to those questions I would say throw it away.
.
Your job is to go deep on what you do, not wide.
.
.

6 – YOUR SKILLS

Take a self-inventory.
Use the key areas of business and rate yourself – Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finances.
.
1) – What are you good at?
List your key skills
.
2) – What are you weak at?
List the things you’re weak at or dislike doing
(usually, the tasks that keep on appearing on your to-do list that never get done)
.
If you have a team get them to rate themselves and you should also rate them too.
.
Now you know your weaknesses, and strengths you can begin the process that follows in steps 7 & 8 below.
.
.

7 – PRODUCTS & SERVICES

Get clear on what you offer, think less is more.
Specifically what 3 products or services give you the most profit?
It’s better to focus on less than try to be the solution provider for everyone and every problem they have.
Outline the end result your products will offer.
.
.

8 – TARGET AUDIENCE

You must be really clear on who your target audience is.
So they know you know them better than they know themselves.
Get clear on why they will buy from you and the desired outcome they’re looking for.
.
.

9 – LEAD GENERATION

Focus on getting one source to work.
Where you generate leads, prospects and clients.
Then do more of this until you hit a level that achieves consistent results.
.
Now expand to another source of traffic.
Don’t jump to another source too soon, if it is at the expense of an already working marketing channel.
.
.

10 – STRUCTURE

To move to the next level and be a success you need to have Structures, Systems or Processes in place that support your new way of life.
.
Your business goal is “to have a commercial, profitable organisation that works without you.”
.
Systemising your business, and removing those processes that are dependent on you or a team member in your business, where the knowledge is in someone’s head (AKA the bottleneck).
Will help to hold you to new standards and support your growth.
.
Start by documenting things in a word document, with print screens of key processes or record a video of your processes.
.
.

11 – Leverage

If you’re going to succeed in business understand this basic formula.
Time, Money, Quality.
~ Time = Money + Quality
~ Money = Time + Quality
~ Quality = Time + Money
.
To have any of these three outcomes takes two of the others.
Investing in a team, systems and improved quality will create more time for you.
Investing time and quality in your business will create more money
Investing time and money in your business will create better quality.
.
Creating systems will create leverage.
(allowing you to do more with what you have)
Building your team to run those systems will give you more freedom.
.
Start out by hiring for your weaker skilled areas;
Tasks that are at the $10/per hour rate.
Then the $100/per hour tasks.
While you focus on the $1000 & $10,000 per hours tasks.
.
.

12 – THE UNKNOWN

Not knowing every step of the way to achieving your goal is part of the choice of being an entrepreneur. Just like it is being an artist or sports athlete.
You may have the vision, but how you get there is always unknown and the mystery.
.
The only time we see how the dots connect is when we look back with hindsight.
(If this path feels scary that’s normal, you’re not alone)
.
.

13 – TRACKING PROGRESS

Just like an athlete or a seasoned entrepreneur, you must track your progress.
If you wish to improve you need to know where you were, where you are and your vision provides the “where you’re headed”.
.
Do more of what works.
Drop what doesn’t work.
(Caveat – when it comes to marketing make sure you’ve published at least 50 – 100 offers/Ads and done more than 100 sales calls before you drop those activities, which you can not 😉 )
.
.

14 – IMPLEMENT & ITERATE FAST.

Whether you’re winning or you’ve experienced failure (not achieved the result you hoped).
Your job is to learn, evolve and implement on repeat.
.
If the failures hurt, that’s normal, and again shift into your alter-ego, how would you deal with a setback as your alter-ego?
Now move forward.
.
I often talk to my coaching clients about CYCLES.
The more you cycle through; idea, implementation, action and results, the better you become.
.
Bruce Lee said it best, “I fear not the man who has practised 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practised one kick 10,000 times.”
.
So don’t think, you win or fail after:
~ one facebook/youtube advert
~ one webinar
~ one funnel
~ one high-value sale
~ one course created
~ one offer
.
Keep going!
.
.

15 – COACH OR MENTOR

For me, my first coaches and mentors were: books, audiobooks, youtube videos and following top entrepreneurs.
.
The fastest way to succeed is to get a real coach or mentor.
~ Why?
Because they save you time, the one resource you cannot get back.
I’ve spent approx £100k on mentors and coaches.
.
I understand the value of accelerating my knowledge with people who have first-hand experience and can offer this to me as advice.
.
It’s also critical that you have someone who can look at your business with an unbiased view, because they will share with you what you need in order to get to the next level (usually a place you haven’t been before)
.
The lesson here; don’t assume you know it all, be coachable.
Which is something I often share and pass onto my own coaching clients.
Les Brown said it best “When you’re in the frame you cant see the picture”
.
Some of the most famous entrepreneurs and superstars had coaches or mentors that helped them to succeed.
Richard Branson = Freddie Laker
Oprah Winfrey = Maya Angelou
Michael Jordan = Phil Jackson
Mark Zuckerberg = Steve Jobs
Serena Williams = Tony Robbins
.
So, if it’s good enough for them I’m sure it will work for you too.
.
.

16 – COMMIT

The difference between those who make it.
To those who get by is by committing to all of the above.
In short your vision, but you must understand that you’re not a robot.
.
You’re a spiritual being having a human experience…
…packaged with: thoughts, memories, emotions
.
And as science states, you’re ~ 99.9999999999% energy
Emotions = Energy in motion.
.
This package then becomes memorised emotions that block creativity unconsciously.
So even at your core, there are behaviours going on that you must unlock and unlearn daily in order to win.
.
Jonathan Edwards, the famed triple jump world record holder, took 12 years from his first Olympics in 1988 until he finally won gold in 2000.
And yes, he had a Coach, Norman Anderson
.
So committing to your journey is essential.
It is not easy.
But, it is worth it.
.
.

17 – MEANING

If you’re at the point where you are searching for meaning in your life and business, here is an easy approach to consider.
.
Viktor Frankl, a holocaust survivor from World War Two, stated there are 3 sources of meaning:
1 – Love, 2 – Work, 3 – Suffering
.
In your life and business, you will find all three and they will mean something to you.
Furthermore, you can use what you find as meaning, through your products and services to help others in adversity to find meaning and they will be forever grateful.
.
So an internal focus will help you to create what you want externally.
.
.

18 – R.O.A.

In everything, you do you are the common denominator.
Not your wife, husband, family, friends or some other person – YOU
.
You experience the world through your senses, not another person.
And whether you believe science fact that you are mostly energy and not matter.
.
You attract everything that happens to you in your life energetically, from an atomic level right through to you in the “real world”.
.
EVERYTHING!
.
So if that means all of the;
~ great things
~ shit things
.
That’s on you.
And if you feel it’s not on you, it’s a sign that you give over your power to others to control the outcome of your life, not you.
.
So take;
> RESPONSIBILITY
> OWNERSHIP
> ACCOUNTABILITY
.
Of your life, and you will find your success rate will increase, you’ll become luckier and the reward will be greater, those around you will want more of what you have and they will seek you out.
.
.

⇒ CONCLUSION ⇐

If you’ve read to the end, then I’m sure you will have resonated with a lot of what I have shared and I hope this has shed some insight into my life, my business and what you can do in yours.
.
Business is not easy because you essentially, are not easy.
There’s a lot of moving parts to the human mind and this is what keeps you in survival mode, which comes packaged with a lot of crap and you become stuck in cause & effect.

The key is to spend more time in your creative mode, which comes pre-packaged with growth, love, health, connectedness and “causing an effect”.
.
The truth is… building a successful business that gives you what you want out of life without an “in-the-know” someone, who is there to guide you, is not easy.
.
Building a real business, at times, is not easy. And a successful “mentor” or “coach” can make it easier.
.
And that’s why I’m here to help…
As a Visionary Marketing Coach.
I want to show you the right way to Build it… Market It… And Set It Up…
So you work less, make more and serve your clients to a higher level.
.
If you’re set on making 2020 a year of lasting change and achieving better results.
Message me and we can arrange a convenient date and time to speak.
.
And if I can help you with your desired outcome.
We can discuss the programmes I run to ensure your success.
